ValveDesk

A specialized platform for structural heart teams – from internal or external referral to assessment, heart-team review, and intervention.

ValveDesk Project overview

Origin

ValveDesk grew out of first-hand experience as a fellow in a structural heart team at a university hospital. Existing workflows based on Excel, Word, and disconnected organizational processes made daily work unnecessarily difficult, leading to the idea for one centralized solution.

Requirements

Register every structural-heart patient centrally, regardless of whether the referral is internal or external, and represent the full subsequent pathway clearly.

Implementation

ValveDesk combines patient registration, preliminary examinations, further assessments, heart-team meetings, documented votes, and interventions. The Heart Valve Navigator also presents guideline-based recommended next steps in an accessible format.

Project scope

Structural heart teams are the primary users; internal physicians, study teams, and case management can also be included. An external referral portal is planned as an extension. The technical scope includes end-to-end encryption, role-based access, auditable documentation, GDPR-compliant processing, hosting in Switzerland, and operation alongside the hospital information system.
